Miss Universe 2020 Candidates Defend Nova Stevens Over Racist Comments

MISS UNIVERSE 2020 – Fellow candidates of Canadian beauty queen Nova Stevens defended her over racist comments from some Pinoy pageant fans.

Earlier, the 26-year-old beauty queen of African descent took to social media wherein she posted a screenshot photo of herself accompanied by racist comments from Filipino netizens.

Among the racist remarks, she received were “nognog,” “katakot,” “akala ko angkanto,” and “Tostadong tostado na nga, NASUNOG pa.”

Meanwhile, Miss Universe 2020 candidates Adline Quadros Castelino from India and Francesca Luhong from Malaysia, as well as Miss Universe Canada 2018 Marta Stepien Magdalena, and Miss Universe USA 2016 Deshauna Barber came to defend Nova Stevens from critics.

Miss Universe Organization has yet to issue any statement regarding the criticisms earned by Nova Stevens.

The 26-year-old Canadian beauty queen of African descent is one of the 74 candidates of the highly anticipated Miss Universe 2020.

She and Philippines’ Rabiya Mateo will compete in the grand coronation night this coming May 16, 2021 (May 17 in the Philippines) at Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

  1. Nothing anybody can do about. It is a vicious-cycle.At least. Filipinos are just expressive. Typical Pinoy. But not all Filipino’s in general.

  2. I am an Asian and I would like to apologize in behalf of the Pinoys who had negative comments on her. Color of the skin doesn’t matter. She is beautiful and black is beautiful. No racism and no to bullying!
