Miss Myanmar: “I have not received the asylum and i don’t plan to.”
Thuzar Wint Lwin, the official candidate of Myanmar in Miss Universe 2020 denied receiving asylum from the US.
Recently, reports surfaced that the beauty queen who’s also known as Candy Thuzar has been granted asylum through the Burmese community in Indiana.
It was even reported that she will be landing a job in New York as a model.
However, in a post, Miss Myanmar denied receiving asylum from the US.
She said: “Hello, i was hoping you could change the caption for the post since it’s not true. I have not received the asylum and i don’t plan to. I was there for the event that the chin community has kindly invited me.”
Earlier, unconfirmed reports on social media surfaced stating that Myanmar authorities have issued an arrest warrant against Thuzar for allegedly speaking up on the current situation of her home country during the 69th Miss Universe pageant.
Thuzar is said to be among those critical of the Myanmar government which is now being ruled by the military junta.
