Malacañang has answered fisherman Carlo Montehermozo who’s dismayed by the jet ski joke of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The latter also regret voting for the country’s highest leader in the previous elections.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque asked the fisherman if he was able to catch fish at the Scarborough Shoal during the Aquino administration.
Roque stressed if the government’s policy did not change under the Duterte administration, the fishermen might not be allowed to go on fishing in the embattled area.
“Nakakapaghanapbuhay ka ba ngayon? Hindi ba totoo na noong panahon ng administrasyong Aquino kung saan tayo palaaway sa Tsina ay iyon ang panahong hindi kayo makapangisda sa Borough?,” he said.
According to Roque, the president’s remark that he will ride a jet ski and hoist the Philippine flag in Spratlys to uphold the country’s sovereignty is happening now.
Roque said that if it were not for the President’s policy, they would probably still be experiencing what the Chinese are doing by driving them away with water cannons.
“Sino po ngayon ang nagbigay ng pagkakataon sa’yo Carlo para magkaroon ng pagkain sa hapag-kainan? Hindi ba po ang polisiya ng Presidente at hindi ang polisiya na awayin ang Tsina?,” he added.
