Netizen to Catriona Gray: “I thought Australia’s border is closed?”
CATRIONA GRAY – The Miss Universe 2018 explained how she managed to go to Australia despite its borders have been closed.
It was on May 4 when Catriona flew to Australia to be with her parents.
Through an Instagram post, Catriona gave an update about her as she undergoes a 15-day quarantine before finally returning home.
In the comments section, a netizen asked how Catriona got into Australia even though Australia’s borders were still closed due to the pandemic.
There is an overseas travel ban for inbound and outbound passengers in Australia from March 2020 to the present.
A netizen asked, “I thought Australia’s border is closed?”
Catriona explained that she was subject to travel ban exemption so she came to Australia.
She clarified that the borders were “closed for tourists but not for citizens or returning residents.”
Catriona has other followers who answered the netizen about the beauty queen’s Filipino-Australian status.
The netizen replied again, “I’m aware that she is a citizen in that country but I am talking about the other Australians that have been stranded overseas by border closures.”
Apparently, what the netizen is referring to is Australia’s flight ban for returning Australian citizens from select countries, specifically India, until May 15.
In any case, Catriona’s travel to Australia is clearly legitimate, and there is no current flight ban for returning Australian citizens/residents from the Philippines.
