16 personnel of the Philippine National Police Regional Mobile Force Battalion-6 in Calinog, Iloilo tested positive for COVID-19.
This is after the results of the swab test conducted on them came out on Wednesday.
The town’s Rural Health Unit immediately contacted the chief of RMFB-6, 606th company to provide assistance to police officers who tested positive for the virus.
He also conducted contact tracing on those who became close contacts of the police who are now in the quarantine facility of the PNP.
Most of them are asymptomatic.
The Calinog local government provided food and other necessities to the police.
As of May 19, there are 37 active COVID-19 cases in Calinog. The total number of recorded cases in the town is 223 as per the latest report of the Iloilo Provincial Health Office.
On the other hand, the number of COVID-19 cases in the police force has reached 22,316, of which 1,376 are active as of May 20,
Meanwhile, with the rapid increase of coronavirus disease 2019 cases, leaders of different nations are doing their all in order to combat the spread of the deadly virus which started in Wuhan, China in 2019.
COVID-19 is characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.
Among the safety protocols that everyone must observe are the following; social/physical distancing, wearing masks especially in public places, and using disinfectant from time to time if possible.
