Malacañang on Thursday said that 2 million COVID-19 vaccine doses were set to arrive in the Philippines in April or May this year.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the Philippines was expecting the delivery of two million COVID-19 vaccine doses in April or May.
Roque said in a statement after a Cabinet meeting that 1.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses will be delivered by China’s Sinovac Biotech while 500,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses will be from Russia’s Gamaleya Research Institute “in April or May”.
President Rodrigo Duterte wasn’t present in the Cabinet meeting convened a day after the President postponed his weekly COVID-19 briefing with Cabinet officials for the second time.

Earlier, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Health (DOH) ordered the suspension of inoculation using AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses for those younger than 60 years old.
This, after the European Medicines Agency (EMA) found that AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses were linked to blood clots among some vaccinees in Europe.
The local government units (LGUs) and the private sector had procured 17 million AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Prior to this, Galvez said last Tuesday that 2 million COVID-19 vaccine doses were expected to arrive in the Philippines this month, adding that they’re using diplomatic channels in order to ensure that the Philippines will be able to receive the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Meanwhile, the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine on senior citizens in the country. Also, the FDA approved the undisclosed hospital’s application for Ivermectin’s compassionate use permit.
