On Easter Sunday, Arci posted a teaser video on her Instagram account wherein JM gave flowers to her and asked her permission if he can court her. Arci also used the hashtags #mayforever and #frombestfriendstolovers in her Instagram post.
“Just really glad that the whole family was able to witness this beautiful moment,” Arci wrote, tagging JM in her Instagram post.
With this, fans of JM and Arci were more than kilig when they thought their ship was finally sailing.

On Arci’s latest vlog premiered on her YouTube channel, it was revealed that JM’s romantic gesture was made in order to make way for Arci’s brother Manolet’s wedding proposal for Arci’s brother’s girlfriend.
In response to JM’s question “Pwede ba manligaw?”, Arci answered him with a “no” and jokingly threw some kicks at him. After receiving the flowers from JM, she then handed it to her brother as he proposed to his girlfriend.
As seen in the YouTube video’s description, Arci added a disclaimer saying that the video was “filmed before ECQ”.
Arci and JM had been close friends since they were in college.

Previously, JM admitted in an interview last June 2020 that he had a crush on Arci back when they first met at the University of the Philippines. For her part, Arci had said that she didn’t want to risk their friendship.
Arci and JM worked together on “Pamilya Ko” and also starred together in “Last Fool Show”. Also, they underwent basic citizen military training in order for them to become Air Force reservists together.
