Watch Party was a virtual hosting feature of Facebook that enabled users to watch videos together on the said platform.

As per Facebook’s Help Center, Facebook had officially announced that its Watch Party feature will be discontinued on the said date, which means, all posts with a Watch Party, comments on posts with a Watch Party, and reactions to those comments or posts will no longer be available after the said date.

In addition, Facebook stated that posts without a Watch Party, comments on posts without a Watch Party, and reactions to comments or posts without a watch party will not change. Also, videos users have uploaded to their profile, groups, or page, were not being removed.

However, Facebook users may download a copy of their comments, posts, and reactions using the “Download Your Information” tool.

Here are the steps on how to download a copy of their Watch Party information on Facebook before the due date:

First, users need to go to the Facebook menu, then go to Settings & Privacy, and then tap the Settings. Next, users need to tap “Download Your Information” under Your Facebook Information.

After that, users need to click the boxes on the right side of Facebook if they wanted to add or remove categories of data from their request. To download their Watch Party data, you need to add the following categories: Comments, Posts, and Likes and Reactions.

Next, users need to select other options — including the quality of videos, photos, and other media, the format of their download request, as well as the specific date range of information. Lastly, you need to tap “Create File” in order to confirm the download request.

According to Facebook, after the user made a download request, it will appear as “Pending” in the Available Copies section of the Download Your Information tool.

Facebook also noted that it might take several days for them to finish preparing the download request and the platform will be sending a notification to the user once the request was ready.

To recall, the platform had introduced the Watch Party feature last 2018.

Watch Party had been a way for users to watch videos on Facebook together in real-time. During Watch Parties, participants can watch videos live or recorded and can interact with one another around them at the same moment.
