An unusual name for a baby in Indonesia
A newborn baby was named the Department of Statistical Communication in honor of his father’s workplace.
According to a certain Slamet ‘Yoga’ Wahyudi, a 38-year-old man from Central Java, Indonesia, he and his then-pregnant wife agreed that if she gave birth to a son, he would be the one naming their child.
Yoga decided to pay tribute to his workplace by naming his baby ‘Dinas Komunikasi Informatika Statistik’ (‘Department of Statistical Communication’) who was born in December last year.
He’s glad that his wife Ririn Linda Tunggal Sari agreed with the decision to name their child that way.
“At first it sounded strange, but thank God my wife did not mind,” he said.
But he admitted that he received concerns from his friends and family after naming their baby as such that’s why decided to give him a more easily pronounceable portmanteau ‘Dinko’.
Before working at the Department of Statistical Communication, he served as a public servant for more than a decade until he joined the Indonesian civil service in 2009.
As per the report of Daily Mail, he later worked as a radio announcer, eventually in the said department.
