P-pop group SB19 and designer Chynna Mamawal teamed up for an exclusively designed “WHAT?” merch as SB19 was set to release their comeback single.
In a report on GMA News Online, SB19 teamed up with Chynna Mamawal in order to create exclusively designed merchandise for their comeback single “WHAT?”
According to SB19, they chose Chynna for her “classy bespoke outfits” which would address their goal to put a spotlight on Filipino designers and to give everyone premium quality clothing.
Chynna said in a statement that the designs were inspired by the group’s “very universal and world class” music, giving it a street-style vibe.
“What you will get is premium, first-rate, exceptional merchandise in terms of style, fabric, fit, fine details and of course you get to wear and feel the fine craftsmanship of our Filipino sewers. The SB19 members and myself really collaborated, worked hard and gave our time choosing the silhouettes and colors. These designs are very personal to the boys,” Chynna said.

Aside from appreciating SB19’s craft, Chynna also agreed to the said project since part of the proceeds will be given to Filipino sewers.
According to Chynna, the fashion industry in the Philippines was one of the hardest hit industries in the coronavirus pandemic, adding that the said collaboration would help provide livelihood and income to Filipino sewers who lost their jobs because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition, Chynna said that the said collaboration would hopefully help Filipino sewers and their families get back on their feet.
“For every SB19 or WHAT? merchandise that you buy, part of it will go back to the salaries of our Filipino sewers, suit makers, tailors, gown makers,” Chynna added.
SB19’s “WHAT?” merch was set to be released on March 9 which was also the release date of the group’s comeback single. Meanwhile, the premium merchandise will be revealed at a later date.
