Samsung Electronics and Marvell had jointly developed a new SoC for 5G network.
Samsung Electronics and Marvell recently announced that the companies had jointly developed a new System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for 5G network.
In a report on Yugatech, Samsung Electronics and Marvell announced that the companies had jointly developed a new SoC that would enhance 5G network performance.
According to Samsung, the SoC was designed to help implement new technology that would improve cellular radios by increasing their capacity and coverage while maintaining low power consumption and size.
The SoC will be utilized in Samsung’s MIMO and other radios — targetted to reach the Tier One operators’ market in Q2 of 2021.
Samsung mentioned that the new SoC was equipped to simultaneously support 5G and 4G networks, capable of saving up to 70 percent in chipset power consumption than the previous solutions.
Junehee Lee, the Executive Vice President and Head of R&D, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, said that they’re excited to extend their collaboration with Marvell in order to reveal a new SoC that will combine both firms’ strengths in innovation to advance 5G network solutions.

“We are excited to extend our collaboration with Marvell to unveil a new SoC that will combine both companies’ strengths in innovation to advance 5G network solutions,” Junehee Lee said.
Samsung Electronics and Marvell had been working closely in delivering leading network solutions.
Last year, Samsung Electronics and Marvell announced the collaboration to develop new 5G products — including radio architectures that would address the power required for MIMO deployments.
