On Thursday, the Sy family confirmed the sudden death of Jan Catherine, the daughter of Henry “Big Boy” Sy. Jr.

“They are still not sure what this is, but the highest possibility is that it is bacterial infection that resulted in leptospirosis. This is possible if even a small cut that can go unnoticed is made,” the family said in a statement.

According to Sy family, Jan Katherine showed “no signs of a disease” or brewing virus before she passed away.

The family added that she was put on 3 strong antibiotics to try to kill the bacteria, and was also given steroids before she died.

Jan Katherine Sy was an equestrian who started competing locally at the age of 13.

Before joining the SM Development Corp in 2018, she trained in France.

During her stint for SM Development Corp, she used to be a project director.

Jan Katherine was supposed to get married next month.
