Gizmochina reported that the Biden administration was going forward with the policies enacted by the previous administration as it tightened its reins around Huawei.

According to a report, the Biden administration had imposed stringent conditions on certain firms that have previously acquired export licenses for dealing with Huawei.

Bloomberg also reported that the US government had placed new restrictions regarding items that were used in or with 5G products. A people close to the matter told Bloomberg that the new 5G ban was effective as of this week.

With the new rule, the Biden administration had created a new restriction on the export of components like antennas, semiconductors, and batteries for Huawei 5G devices.

In other words, the Biden administration had created a more uniform ban among the licensees.

For those unaware, a few American companies had previously received licenses allowing them to continue shipping components to the Chinese tech giant that might even be used in building their 5G equipment.

The Trump administration had previously placed Huawei — along with other Chinese companies — under the trade blacklist “Entity List” which basically required US-based companies to acquire a license to trade with the said brand.

It seemed like the recent move from the Biden administration pushed forward the restrictions that were placed on the company by Donald Trump.

Furthermore, this also signified the stance the Biden administration was planning to take against China and Chinese companies.
