Daughter of Henry Sy Jr. Dies Few Weeks Before Getting Married
HENRY SY JR – Jan Catherine Sy, the daughter of SM Prime chairman who recently died, is set to get married this April 9.
One of the richest families in the Philippines is the Sy. Their late patriarch, Henry Sy Sr., is the founder of the SM Group of Companies which owns many popular and big businesses in the country. It focuses on several aspects including mall development and banks.
For more than a decade, Henry Sr.’s name topped the list of the wealthiest people in the Philippines. In January 2019, the business tycoon passed away. SM Prime is currently headed by his son, Henry Sy Jr.
The Sy family is currently going through a painful moment – the passing of the 29-year-old daughter, Jan Catherine Sy, of the SM Prime Chairman.
Jan Catherine reportedly died of sepsis, a condition wherein the tissues of the body are damaged in response to an infection. She is the vice president of the SMDC or the real estate arm of their company.
Aside from being a key member in their family’s businesses, Jan Catherine is a horse-rider. She really studied abroad to be an equestrian. She’s also a good singer and a faithful person.
Many people were saddened by the unexpected death of Jan Catherine Sy at a young age. Based on a viral post on Bilyonaryo, the daughter of Henry Sy. Jr. is supposedly set to get married this April 9.
In the eulogy of the SM Prime Chairman over the death of his daughter, he shared that even amid the preparations for her wedding with “Jack” during the last few months of her life, she remained patient to her parents.
Henry Sy Jr. expressed that it was Jan Catherine who took care of him and his wife amid the pandemic. She really exerted efforts to make sure her parents stay healthy.
Another thing that the SM Prime revealed about his daughter is her faith. She was the one who asked him to go to church with her. Amid the pain, the Sy family is taking comfort knowing that she is now with God in heaven.
