Galvez said in a virtual briefing with Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque that the supply agreement which covered the 30 million Novavax COVID-19 vaccine doses was signed during his meeting with the representatives of Serum Institute of India last week.

According to Galvez, their trip to India paid off as they’re able to secure 30 million doses from Novavax.

Novavax was based in the United States, but its Covovax COVID-19 vaccines were manufactured at the Serum Institute of India.

According to a report on GMA News Online, the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine had yet to be approved for emergency use by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Meanwhile, Galvez also said that they’re also expecting the arrival of 1.4 million doses of China’s Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines this month and almost one million AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses in late March or early April through the COVAX facility co-led by the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to Galvez, the 400,000 Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses donated by China will arrive on March 24 as the earliest possible delivery date, while one million Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses procured by the Department of Health will arrive on March 28 as the earliest possible delivery date.

As for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses, Galvez said during the meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte and top government officials on COVID-19 pandemic response in Malacañang that the earliest possible delivery date will be on March 22.
