NBI Probed Death of Christine Dacera, Findings Now Out

CHRISTINE DACERA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) released its findings on case of the 23-year-old flight attendant.

In the first week of January 2021, social media was taken by storm by the death of a 23-year-old flight attendant of Philippine Airlines. Identified as Christine Angelica Dacera, she was found dead in a bathtub in a hotel in Makati City.

Dacera and her friends decided to welcome the New Year at City Garden Grand Hotel. According to her companions, one of their friends is working in the said hotel thus they had a huge discount.

The companions of the flight attendant who were all male but not straight guys claimed that they only had hard drinks that night. They were introduced to some people staying in another room by a common friend and they played some parlor games.

According to Dacera’s friends, they did not stay long in the other room and it was the flight attendant who kept coming back to the adjacent room. In the early hours of January 1, she reportedly decided to sleep in the bathtub of their room because of her urge to vomit.

One of the companions of Christine Dacera, Rommel Galido, claimed that he found her unconscious in the bathtub so they took her and tried to revive her. She was also rushed to Makati Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.

The autopsy and the medico-legal report of the Philippine National Police (PNP) pointed to a ruptured aortic aneurysm as the cause of her death. The family of the flight attendant does not believe the findings.

Recently, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) released the result of the investigation they conducted on the Dacera case. They found drugs in the room of where she and her friends stayed.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, NBI also found out that Christine Dacera has a heart condition and she had maintenance medicine for it before. While the authorities cite that aneurysm is the cause of her death, NBI experts believe that the drugs found in their room might have contributed to it.

“Tataas ang iyong BP (blood pressure). So magra-rapid ang iyong heartbeat at tataas ang iyong BP, which will ultimately result [in] the rupture of the aneurysm,” Atty. Zulikha Conales Degamo, the NBI Death Investigation Division Agent on Case, said.
