However, dog owners must be extra careful in introducing foods to dogs. There are foods that may cause no harm to humans but may put a dog’s life at risk.
What Can Dogs Not Eat
Xylitol – It is usually found in baked goods, gum, toothpaste, and other diet foods and it can affect the blood sugar level of your dog and can cause liver failure.
Avocado – This fruit contains persin and too much of it can cause dogs vomiting and diarrhea.
Alcohol – Like what it can do to people, alcohol may also affect the brain and liver of a dog even just a little of the drink.
Onions and Garlic – Regardless whether it is cooked, powdered, raw, etc., these two (2) must be kept away from your dogs as it can kill red blood cells.
Coffee and Tea – All caffeine products are among the answers about what can dogs not eat. Caffeine is fatal to your furry babies.
Grapes and Raisins – Just a small amount of grapes and raisins can cause sickness to your dog and it can further lead to kidney failure.
Chocolate – This is the most popular food that is bad for dogs. It is because of its theobromine content which can cause diarrhea, tremors, heart problems, seizures and death.
Macadamia Nuts – Based on an article on Web MD, just six raw macadamia nuts can make a dog sick already. Things may be way worse if your dog ate a chocolate with macadamia nuts.
Fat Trimmings and Bones – Although bones are associated with dogs, giving them bones may result to choking and as well as clogging in the stomach. Also, it can lead to pancreatitis like fat trimmings.
Raw Meat and Fish – The risk in giving dogs raw meat and fish are the bacteria that may be present in it. They may also take some fish disease from certain fish like sturgeon and salmon.
