OPAV gave details on Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino’s COVID-19 situation.
The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) recently gave details on Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino’s COVID-19 situation.
This, after Sec. Dino on Monday announced that he had tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a Facebook post on Monday night, OPAV stated that Sec. Dino had himself immediately tested for COVID-19 after his driver’s February 11 positive COVID-19 test result was released on February 14.
OPAV also stated that it immediately issued an advisory after Sec. Dino’s COVID-19 test result came out. According to OPAV, Sec. Dino was only exhibiting mild symptoms.
In addition, OPAV stated that after his COVID-19 test result came out, Sec. Dino immediately announced on the OPAV Facebook page on February 15, urging those who recently came in close contact with him to have themselves tested for COVID-19.
With this, OPAV stated that its staff who were exposed to COVID-19-positive individuals (close contact) were mandated to quarantine immediately and would undergo an RT-PCR test on the 5th day.
Moreover, OPAV stated that its staff was enjoined to work remotely during quarantine as long as their health condition may allow, adding that they’re only allowed to physically report to the office after a negative RT-PCR result or upon securing a medical clearance after completing the quarantine period.

Meanwhile, the members of Sec. Dino’s family were also tested on the same day the secretary was tested and the COVID-19 test results of his family members turned out “negative” and were undergoing quarantine following health protocols.
When asked about his message to the outpouring support of the Cebuanos for his recovery, OPAV said that Sec. Dino was very grateful for the outpouring of concern and support not only from Cebuanos but also from other parts of Visayas, adding that he also expressed his appreciation to his fellow public servants — from both national and local government agencies — who conveyed their good wishes.
“[Sec. Dino] thanks everyone for offering their prayers for his swift recovery,” OPAV stated in its statement.
OPAV also stated that Sec. Dino may send his representative/s in order to represent OPAV in meetings with other government agencies, adding that events that need his presence can be done via teleconference or Zoom.
