Nearly 3, 000 Homes in Pagsanjan, Laguna Suffer Water Outage Due to Closure of Pumping Station
Nearly 3, 000 homes in Pagsanjan, Laguna are suffering water outage due to the closure of water district’s pumping station.
The residents of Barangay Pagsanjan, Laguna are already complaining against Pagsanjan Water District (PAGWAD) for suffering frequent water interruptions since December 2020. The illegal closure of the pumping station 7 affects over 3, 000 houses.
The road has been also closed, which also prohibits the personnel of PAGWAD to enter the vicinity. The residents are struggling with the water supply and problematized on where to get water. Sitio Tarikan residents are even climbing a stiff trail just to fetch water.
According to PAGWAD, the district and the land owner has a memorandum of agreement but the original owner has already passed away. The inheritor of the land reportedly sold the property including the lot wherein the pumping station is located.
The alleged new owner Catalina Nazario wants PAGWAD to purchase or rent the land from them. However, Nazario could not show a title or document that she owns the land, according to the PAGWAD General Manager Alex Paguio.
“Hinihingan namin ng papeles, o sige ho kung gusto niyo, ibenta, babayaran namin kahit mayroon kaming usapan pero nasaan ho ang proof of ownership? Kahit man lamang Deed of Sale, gusto nila mag-offer kami, magbayad, nasa gobyerno kami puwede ba kami magbilihan nang wala kami nakikitang papeles?” Paguio said.
Barangay Pinagsanjan Captain Emer Javeniar is urging to open the pumping station to give relief to his constituents who were suffering from water outage but the new land owner continue to neglect the plead.
PAGWAD is set to file charges against Nazario for violating Water Crisis Act.
