Miss Universe Philippines 2021 may be held in Iloilo City this year, according to a report.
Miss Universe Philippines 2021 may reportedly be held in Iloilo City as organizers had asked the city to host this year’s national beauty pageant.
In a report on Manila Bulletin, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas on Friday said in a statement that the city received a proposal from a marketing and production company to host this year’s Miss Universe Philippines pageant.
This was pitched late last 2020 when Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Occeña Mateo came home after winning the crown.
“I am very much open to this proposal. I am always supportive of activities that showcase the talents of the Ilonggos and open opportunities to create livelihood and promote local businesses including our tourism,” Treñas said.

Rabiya Mateo, who hailed from Balasan town in northern Iloilo province, represented the city in the pageant’s national contest last 2020 when she won the Miss Iloilo 2020 contest that was a side activity of Dinagyang Festival last year.
Mateo herself had been in the forefront of promoting the city to host this year’s Miss Universe Philippines.
This was also aligned to the push in making the city as the next major destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) in the Philippines.
