Duterte Reacts To Controversial Car Seat Law
DUTERTE REACTS TO CAR SEAT LAW – Netizens went buzzing over a controversial car seat law amid the pandemic.
The law’s principal author, JV Ejercito went viral for his statements regarding the new law. Previously, he stated that parents who want to commute via taxis with a child should have their own car seats.
Meanwhile, amid the controversy and the buzz surrounding this issue, President Rodrigo Duterte himself reacted to the law. According to his close confidant, Senator Bong Go, Duterte disagrees with the law’s implementation.
During his press briefing in “Laging Handa”, Bong Go said that Duterte doesn’t want to implement the law. He added that Duterte acknowledges the hardships Filipinos are facing amid the pandemic. “Let’s not make their lives more difficult”, Bong Go said.
Furthermore, Bongo Emphasized that the law would be useless as community quarantine protocols already prohibit children from going out.
With Republic Act 11229 or Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act, children under the age of 12 cannot be allowed to sit in front of a vehicle. Furthermore, parents should install a car seat for children below the age threshold who is under 4’11”.
