J-Hope, a member of South Korean pop group BTS, marked his 27th birthday by donating this amount to children with disabilities.
J-Hope, born on Feb. 18, 1994, celebrated his 27th birthday last Thursday. In order for him to mark the said occasion, he decided to donate in order to help children with disabilities.
Charity organization ChildFund Korea announced that J-Hope made a donation of KRW 150 million (about USD 135,600 or PHP 6.55 million) for children with disabilities.
The donation, according to ChildFund Korea, will be used for childcare as well as learning and facility support expenses of children with hearing and visual impairments who were experiencing financial difficulties.
According to J-Hope, he heard that the number of vulnerable families was significantly increasing because of the prolonged coronavirus crisis and especially, support for children with disabilities was urgent.
J-Hope hoped that the said donation would increase interest in children with disabilities in society.

J-Hope was a member of the Green Noble Club — a group of large donors of KRW 100 million or more of ChildFund Korea — and became the 146th member of the club in 2018.
He donated KRW 150 million (USD 135,600) in 2018 for children, KRW 100 million (USD 90,400) in February 2019 for scholarship, and KRW 100 million (USD 90,400) in December 2019 for the treatment expenses of patients.
Last 2020, J-Hope made a donation of KRW 100 million (USD 90,400) for children of families struggling due to COVID-19.
In total, J-Hope had donated KRW 600 million (USD 542,400).

According to ChildFund Korea Chairman Lee Je-hoon, with J-Hope’s regulation donations, interest in children who were suffering from economic difficulties was increasing and this had led to inquiries from BTS ARMY in Korea and abroad.
He also said that ChildFund Korea would do its best in order to support children from low-income families in accordance with the wishes of donors — including J-Hope.
