COVID-19 Surge Start in Metro Manila, OCTA Research Team
The OCTA Research Team announced that the COVID-19 surge is already starting in Metro Manila a few days before the Christmas holiday.
The academic experts revealed a data stating that they have observed positive growth in new cases in the National Capital Region after a few months of declination in cases of the coronavirus diseases.
“It is in this light that we believe, based on our analysis of the data and of the past trends in the NCR, that a surge in its early stages has already started in the region. This is a serious cause for concern,” OCTA Research group said.
The group recorded an increase from 1.06 to 1.15 from December 14 to 20, 2020 in Metro Manila. The region remains to the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in the country. The team clarified that the growth was still on its early stage.
The research team said that areas such as NCR, Rizal, Bulacan, Isabela, Leyte, Pangasinan, South Cotabato, and Negros Oriental need to intensify their testing, tracing, and isolation.
The team also advised the public to refrain from joining social gatherings especially during the holiday season.
