DOH COVID-19 update as of December 9, 2020

The Department of Health (DOH) gave an update about its latest COVID-19 tally as of 4:00 p.m. of December 9, 2020.

According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #270 dated December 9, 2020, the Department of Health recorded 1,387 newly-reported COVID-19 cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 444,164.

Also, the Department of Health reported 26,545 total active cases wherein 85.2% were mild cases, 6.6% were asymptomatic cases, 5.2% were critical cases, 2.7% were severe cases, and 0.31% were moderate cases.

Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of December 9 only: Batangas with 71 new cases, Quezon City with 70 new cases, Davao del Norte with 64 new cases, Benguet with 59 new cases, and Quezon with 57 new cases.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 156 newly-reported recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 408,942. Also, the Department of Health recorded seven newly-reported fatalities, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 8,677.

While the coronavirus disease was still present in the Philippines and the number of COVID-19 cases kept on increasing, the Department of Health constantly reminded the public to continually follow the minimum public health standards.

“Saan man tayo maglakbay, baunin natin ang pag-iingat at siguraduhing ligtas tayo sa banta ng COVID-19. Ang ating pag-iingat ay ang susi sa patuloy na saya ng Paskong Pinoy,” the Department of Health said in its message of the day.
