DOH COVID-19 update as of December 8, 2020

The Department of Health (DOH) gave an update about its latest COVID-19 tally as of 4:00 p.m. of December 8, 2020.

According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #269 dated December 8, 2020, the Department of Health recorded 1,400 newly-reported COVID-19 cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 442,785.

Also, the Department of Health reported 25,325 total active cases wherein 84.8% were mild cases, 6.6% were asymptomatic cases, 5.5% were critical cases, 2.8% were severe cases, and 0.32% were moderate cases.

Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of December 8 only: Benguet with 101 new cases, Davao City with 90 new cases, Quezon City with 82 new cases, Rizal with 75 new cases, and Laguna with 56 new cases.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 139 newly-reported recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 408,790. Also, the Department of Health recorded 98 newly-reported fatalities, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 8,670.

While the coronavirus disease was still present in the Philippines and the number of COVID-19 cases kept on increasing, the Department of Health constantly reminded the public to continually follow the minimum public health standards.

For its message of the day, the DOH said that the public should watch what they eat as Christmas was fast approaching.

The Department of Health also urged the public that they should avoid eating greasy foods and choose to eat nutritious food in order to maintain good health and immunity.
