Arjo Atayde: “I don’t want to do showbiz because…”
Award-winning actor Arjo Atayde revealed in an interview that he almost quit the showbiz world this year.
The actor appeared before the entertainment media after winning his first international award as Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards.
This is for his excellent performance in the iWant digital series “Bagman” where he beat other great actors in different parts of Asia.
According to Arjo, the award he received was an “unexpected blessing” because he said he really planned to leave showbiz because of the closure of ABS-CBN.
“Siguro given everything that’s happened, it affected me so much that I was just like, ‘You know what, I’m out. I don’t want it anymore.’ I don’t want to do showbiz because of this damage that they’ve done because it was this massive damage not only to me but to a lot of people.”
He noted that he will venture into business once he quit showbiz.
“But I don’t think I’m going to stop any time soon. So I’m going to continue learning because it’s what keeps me alive anyway, this acting. So I’ll stick to it,” he stressed.
Arjo Atayde is also hoping that he will portray more characters that would challenge his skills as an actor.
Arjo is the boyfriend of Kapuso star Maine Mendoza and the son of veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez.
