SSS To Start Offering Calamity Loan Package This Week

SSS would start offering calamity loan package to its members this week.

The Social Security System (SSS) on Wednesday said that it would start offering a calamity loan package to its members later this week in order to help them cope with the recent series of typhoons.

This, as SSS CEO and President Aurora Ignacio said that the loan package would be open for members from areas under a state of calamity from November 27, 2020, until February 26, 2021.

Ignacio said in a public briefing that loan applicants should have 36 monthly contributions and should have not missed this obligation in the last 6 months.

Ignacio also said that members could take a loan equivalent to one month of their salary and could ask for a 3-month advance pension.

Moreover, Ignacio said that the said loan was payable in two years.

It was recalled last week when SSS announced in its advisory that it would open an assistance package for members and pensioners in areas placed under a state of calamity due to series of typhoons starting November 27, 2020.

According to SSS, the assistance package would include the Three-month Advance Pension for SS and Employees’ Compensation pensioners, Direct House Repair and Improvement Loan, and Calamity Loan Assistance Program (CLAP).
