Nanette Medved is also a Darna behind the camera
Former actress Nanette Medved, who is popularly known for playing the role of Darna, is also a superhero in real-life.
Nanette left the entertainment industry when she started her own family. She and her husband Chris Po, from the family behind the Century Pacific, got married in 1999.
Although their union faced a hardship due to the fact that Chris came from a Chinese family and marrying an actress is defying their tradition. Despite of that, the couple rose in the world of business with the help of each other.
After all, Nanette graduated summa cum laude from Babson College with degrees in finance and entrepreneurship, based on the article from Inquirer.
Now, Chris is the executive chairperson of Century while Nanette is chairperson of the Po family council since last year.
Behind this engagement in the business, Nanette Medved is also busy giving back to the community. She is the woman behind Generation Hope and its flagship is the bottled water called Hope in a Bottle.
She said in an interview back in 2018 that she is not receiving salary from being the director of Generation Hope and president of Friends of Hope.
“I’m fine, my husband provides wonderfully for us and I don’t think it would be right,” the former actress said.
All of the profits from this product is donated to Friends of Hope that builds classrooms in remote areas in the Philippines.
Aside from this, Nanette Medved is now working on her advocacy Plastic Credit Exchange that works with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to address the problem in pollution brought by plastics.
