Metro Manila Mayors Agreed to Caroling Ban in the City for Christmas Season 2020, According to MMDA
MMDA said that Metro Manila mayors have already agreed to ban the traditional caroling in the city in the upcoming Christmas season.
Caroling has been already a part of the Filipino culture and tradition every December. A lot of our country used to see children, teenagers, and even adults roaming around the streets to sing Christmas carols.
Carolers usually go from house to house singing Christmas songs in exchange of gifts or money. Many people also love to give gifts, foods, or money to the carolers as they remember the essence of giving during the Yuletide season.
Recently, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority general manager Jojo Garcia announced that the mayors from Metro Manila have agreed to prohibit carolers singing from house-to-house this December 2021.
MMDA chief Garcia said that the proposal will be submitted to Inter-Agency Task Force for study and evaluation. The proposal aims to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease in the country.
The online community has also expressed their reactions regarding the proposed ban of traditional caroling:
