In a report on Gizguide, Globe Telecom would expand its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) coverage to include the entire provinces of Cebu, Davao del Norte, and Davao del Sur as early as January 2021.

VoLTE was the standard high-speed wireless communication for mobile phones using 4G LTE network for voice calls instead of 2G and 3G network.

This would become the standard once 2G and 3G networks became obsolete.

VoLTE had three times the capacity of 3G network and up to six times the capacity of 2G network allowing for more customers to place calls at the same time, to provide clearer voice quality, to enable faster call set-up, and to lower instances of dropped calls.

Also, VoLTE allowed users to simultaneously connect to the internet while on a call and this provided an uninterrupted mobile browsing experience.

Moreover, Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) was also an added complement to VoLTE as VoWiFi was also known as “WiFi Calling” in which it helped address indoor mobile coverage problems in services like voice calls.

Gizguide also reported that VoLTE and VoWiFi calls would be charged just like a regular call, but customers who were registered to a Globe unli-call promo could also have unlimited VoWiFi and VoLTE calls within the Globe network.
