Department of Education Hires 3,200 Learning Support Aides to Help Students

The Department of Education hired around 3,200 learning support aides to help the students amid distance learning.

On Tuesday (November 3, 2020), the Education Department hired the aides to help the students with their lesson. The program prioritizes the students who have no parents or guardians to guide them with their studies at home.

Education Undersecretary Jesus Mateo explained that the schools hired learning support aides living in the community to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease. Around 3,200 aides have been hired from five regions.

DepEd have paid around 2,000 worker while the remaining 1,200 aides will receive their salaries from the local government units of the communities they were assigned. However, Mateo doesn’t have an idea regarding the number of LSAs to be hired by DepEd.

“Depende po iyan doon sa magiging kailangan ng paaralan para matugunan iyong pangangailangan ng mga mag-aaral,” Mateo added.

The DepEd Undersecretary also revealed that the department has hired 1,421 displaced teachers from private schools.
