#CagayanNeedsHelp Goes Viral As Residents Seek for Help

#CagayanNeedsHelp – Residents in Cagayan asks for help as the province is submerged in deep flood brought by Typhoon Ulysses.

Typhoon Ulysses brought massive rains in several parts of the Philippines. Unfortunately, many of these areas hit have yet to recover from Typhoon Rolly when Ulysses came in.

In Marikina, around 30,000 houses were submerged in flood water and the residents had to climb their rooftops to escape from the rising water level. Mayor Marcy Teodoro called for help from the national government amid the onslaught of the typhoon.

According to Mayor Teodoro, their local government unit has 50 rubber boats but they needed aerial rescue. Areas that were not previously flooded were reached by the flood.

In Rizal, houses were also submerged in flood water and the residents also have to go to their rooftops amid the rising water level. In Catanduanes, landslide and flooding occurred as triggered by Ulysses.

What many people do not know until midnight today is that Cagayan province is also greatly suffering from the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.

#CagayanNeedsHelp went viral on social media as the netizens asked for rescue for the residents in the province. They already spent overnight at their rooftops as the water level rose.

Some posts stated that the rising of the water level was affected by the release of water from Magat Dam, one of the biggest water contributor in the country.

Amid the #CagayanNeedsHelp going viral on social media now, Vice President Leni Robredo assured that the government hears the call and is sending rescue to the province.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Robredo said that marine rescue is on the way to Cagayan. Aerial rescue is not possible during night time as the military is not flying civilian choppers because of the risks.

Furthermore, due to the deep flood and the strong current of the water in Cagayan, rescue teams have a hard time entering the province. They have to use rubber boats.
