Palace to critics: “No need to ask where the President is“
Malacañang lashed out at critics of President Duterte for making #NasaanAngPangulo a trending topic anew at the height of Typhoon “Ulysses”, saying that there’s no need to ask where the President was.
This, as Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. lamented that the political opposition was making it appear that the President was always missing in action when he had always been on top of the situation.
Roque told critics that they shouldn’t ask where President Duterte was.
“That’s a baloney perpetuated by the opposition because the President is not missing, he is always with us, always thinking of the welfare of our fellow countrymen,” Roque said.
Also, he told the opposition that they should “put a stop to it” because they paled in comparison based on the casualties during the previous administration.
He also noted that the President had been regularly updated on the developments about Typhoon “Ulysses” while he virtually attended the 37th ASEAN Summit and related summits last November 12, 2020.

During a press briefing with members of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council at Camp Aguinaldo, Roque said that there’s a quick response from the government, but they’re unable to do anything about the fast rise of the flood waters.
In addition, Roque belied allegations that Duterte was trivializing the plight of many Filipinos when the President said that he wanted to go out and swim with them, saying that the real message of President Duterte was he’s one with the victims of typhoon “Ulysses”.
Moreover, Roque dismissed the trending hashtag #NasaanAngPangulo (Where is the President?), saying that his absence didn’t mean that he’s sleeping on the job during calamities.
Roque said that there’s no need to ask where President Duterte was because the President was always on top of things, adding that he knew what was happening in the different areas of the country in this time of technology.
