English pop star Sam Smith said in an interview that he hoped to do a duet with Carl Malone Montecido, who was a Grand Finalist of Tawag ng Tanghalan.

This, after Carl’s viral performance at the mall karaoke caught the attention of international singers as he sang Sam Smith’s hit “Too Good at Goodbyes”.

Sam Smith said in an interview on GMA Network’s “24 Oras” on Thursday that he was willing to do a duet with Carl if there would be an opportunity to do so, adding that it would be an absolute honor for him to sing with Carl.

According to Sam, Carl — known as the “Blind Balladeer of Bacolod City” — was incredible and was a “better singer” than he was.

I’ll be so scared singing with him. He’s unbelievable,” Sam said.

His statement came after he reposted the said video on his Twitter account last February in which it already reached over 13.9 million views and over one million likes as of this writing.

In a previous report on The Visayan Daily Star, Carl said that he’s happy that international singers — including Sam Smith — noticed him and much happier that he’s invited to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
