Globe Telecom Removes 3G SIMs Across Retail, Distribution Chains

Globe Telecom removed 3G SIMs across retail and distribution chains.

Globe Telecom had recently announced that it officially removed consumer 3G SIMs across its retail and distribution chains.

Started in early 2019, the said initiative was in line with Globe Telecom’s goal to shift its customers to 4G LTE and 5G-ready SIMs for an improved mobile internet experience.

It was two decades ago when 3G (third-generation technology) for mobile brought an important breakthrough when it comes to basic mobile internet access.

However, new and better technologies such as 4G LTE had been introduced since then, prompting a lot of telecom companies across the world to stop offering 3G services while others were already in the process of doing the same.

In order to check if you’re still using Globe 2G or 3G SIM, you may text SIM CHECK to 8080.

Once verified, you may secure an online appointment on this link or the GlobeOne app before going to the Globe Store for SIM replacement. From there, you can choose the Store location and also the date and time of appointment as well.

Globe Telecom’s booking system would make transactions even more convenient and would save both time and effort as it would also ensure that customers were attended to properly.

Customers were also encouraged to visit the stores’ list for information about the Stores — including those that required prior booking and those with Express booths which gave priority to SIM upgrade requests.

Stores which were not part of the appointment booking would still accept customers on a “first come, first served” basis.

Meanwhile, postpaid 3G users may skip the Store visit and simply request for SIM change through the GlobeOne app instead. The new SIM would be delivered to their registered address by a courier.
