DOJ Usec. Markk Perete resigned due to this reason.
Markk Perete on Thursday was handing in his resignation as the Undersecretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ) due to this reason.
This, as Perete — who was also the spokesperson of the Department of Justice — cited personal and serious reasons for his resignation.
Perete graduated from UP College of Law last 2006 and was brought into the Department of Justice by Justice Sec. Menardo Guevarra last 2018 along with Undersecretaries Adrian Sugay and Emmeline Aglipay-Villar.
Prior to his stint at the Department of Justice, he became a technical assistant at the Office of the President with the rank of “Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs”.
In a message to reporters, Perete said that he had decided to submit his resignation from the Department of Justice due to “serious” and “very personal” reasons.
“I humbly request for everyone’s understanding”, Perete said.
Perete also said that he has yet to inform Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra regarding his resignation.
Moreover, Perete said that he would have liked to continue under the leadership of Justice Secretary Guevarra, but it will be a “disservice to do so at this time”.
Prior to this, there had been no hints that led to Perete’s decision to resign from the Department of Justice.
