Pantone Introduces ‘Period’ Custom Color

Pantone introduced its “Period” custom color.

Pantone on Wednesday introduced new “Period” color – a red-shade custom color that was created in order to promote “period positivity” and to “break the stigma” around menstruation.

This, as Pantone hammered down the point with an illustration of a female reproductive system.

In a Facebook post, Pantone said that an “active and adventurous” red hue, “courageous” Period color emboldened women who menstruate to feel proud of who they were.

To own their period with self-assurance; to stand up and passionately celebrate the exciting and powerful life force they are born with; to urge everyone regardless of gender to feel comfortable to talk spontaneously and openly about this pure and natural bodily function.”

Moreover, Pantone said that Intimina — a Swedish healthcare brand — approached Pantone Color Institute to develop a custom color in support of the company’s global campaign to make menstruation “more visible” and “normalize” the most normal of bodily functions.

Last December 2019, Pantone introduced “Classic Blue” as the Color of the Year for the year 2020.

As previously explained by Pantone, this year’s Color of the Year brought the sense of “peace” and “tranquility” to the human spirit. Also, this color may promote “resilience” as well.
