DOJ Sec. Guevarra urged public to respect Perete’s privacy
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra encouraged the public to respect the privacy of former DOJ Undersecretary Markk Perete and to “wish him well”.
This, as Guevarra confirmed in a message to reporters on Thursday that Perete — who was also the former spokesperson of the Department of Justice — had submitted his resignation to President Rodrigo Duterte.
Though Guevarra knew the reason for Perete’s resignation, he declined to disclose what it was.
According to him, Perete explained to him the reasons for tendering his resignation before doing so.
“As these reasons were very personal, the least that we could do for him is to respect his privacy and wish him well”, Guevarra said.

Guevarra’s message came after former DOJ Undersecretary Markk Perete on Thursday resigned due to “serious” and “very personal” reasons.
Perete told the reporters in a message that he had decided to submit his resignation, adding that he “humbly request for everyone’s understanding“.
Prior to this, there had been no hints that led to former DOJ Undersecretary Markk Perete’s decision to resign from the Department of Justice.
