The Department of Health (DOH) had recorded 2,638 newly-reported coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of October 19, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #219 dated October 19, 2020, the Department of Health reported 2,638 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, wherein 1,932 out of 2,638 were recorded as “fresh” cases — reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days.
This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 359,169.
Since September 11, the Department of Health didn’t report the number of operational laboratories who successfully submitted their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System as well as the total number of operational laboratories. However, the Department of Health on Monday reported that 16 operational laboratories failed to submit their data to the CDRS.

The Department of Health also reported 42,191 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #219 dated October 19, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of October 19 only: Quezon City with 141 new cases, Cavite with 140 new cases, Laguna with 128 new cases, Batangas with 120 new cases, and Rizal with 108 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 226 newly-reported recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 310,303. Also, the Department of Health recorded 26 newly-reported fatalities, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 6,675.
