Barangay Captain and Kagawad Face Power Pilferage Charges After Caught Over Illegal Electrical Connection
A barangay captain and its kagawad are now facing charges over illegal electrical connection in Brgy. Democracia, Jaro.
Punong Barangay Rey Jalbuena and Kagawad Elmer Jareño are now facing charges over violation of Anti-Electricity Pilferage Act. The two local officials were using jumpers to get free electricity without paying for it.
MORE Power spokesperson Mr. Jonathan Cabrera said that the operation team found a ‘jumper’ at an electrical post in Brgy. Democracia, Jaro. The team traced the jumper and found that it was connected to Jalbuena’s house and Jareño’s parlor.
The power distribution company immediately removed the illegal electrical connection to avoid electrical problems and further troubles in the area. The firm is currently processing the complaints against the two officials.
Both Jalbuena and Jareño are facing Power Pilferage charges because of their illegal activities in the village.
Illegal electrical connections could cause fire and other problems, which may lead to further troubles. It is also considered as a criminal act wherein suspects could face corresponding sanctions and penalties.
