Ardot Parojinog found dead
Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog, a former councilor of Ozamiz City, was found dead inside his detention cell at the Ozamiz Police Station on Friday, September 4, 2020.
According to PNP Chief Camilo Cascolan, “no violence was noted” in the ex-Ozamiz councilor’s death.
Ardot Parojinog was purported to attend a hearing at the Ozamiz City Court this Friday.
Meanwhile, all personnel on night duty including the Ozamiz police chief have been placed under restrictive custody, ready for the investigation, following the death of Ardot Parojinog.
Ardot Parojinog is the brother of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr who was killed along with 15 people in a raid served by the police in July 2017 at Parojinog’s residence.
He and other members of the clan were accused of their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade and reportedly, they have ordered their private army to kill local police who refused to participate in the said transactions.
Parojinog Sr. and 15 others including his wife were killed in an encounter launched during a simultaneous raid conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Ozamiz City police.
Jovie Espenido, who’s well-known to be a crusader of anti-illegal drugs, was the chief of Ozamiz at the time.
In 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte announced placing a whopping 5 million pesos reward for the apprehension of Ardot Parojinog.
According to CNN Philippines, last July 2018, he was deported from Taiwan to the Philippines.
