OPM band Ben&Ben on Thursday introduced “Lights” as the official fandom name, but the band quickly suspended its use due to this.
It was last September 3 when Ben&Ben launched the official fandom of the group in order to celebrate the moments shared with their supporters and fans over the past three years.
In its Twitter post, the band said that they’re naming the official Ben&Ben Fandom, “Lights”. Ben&Ben added that their fans and supporters had always been the light to the 9 of them, adding that their fans and supporters kept the band grounded in their purpose.
Also in its tweet, Ben&Ben launched the official Twitter account of the fandom, @benandbenlights.

But what the OPM band didn’t know was that South Korean pop group HIGHLIGHT used the same fandom name for their supporters and fans.
That said, Ben&Ben decided to suspend the use of “Lights” and assured an immediate action on their end. And yes, the @benandbenlights Twitter account was deleted.

In a Twitter post, Ben&Ben said that they had decided to suspend their fandom name “until further notice” as their fans and supporters — who were also a fan of HIGHLIGHT — had informed the band that there’s already an existing South Korean pop fandom with the same name.
Ben&Ben also said that band apologized to its fans and supporters for the “confusion” and “dismay” that the fandom name had caused to the parties involved.
In addition, the band said that they truly didn’t realize that the said fandom name “may cause trouble” being that Ben&Ben was an OPM band from the Philippines.
Moreover, the OPM band said that they held high respect for South Korean pop culture and South Korean pop fandoms, adding that the band management would settle the said matter immediately.
