This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #171 dated September 1, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,483 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 224,264.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Tuesday were reported based on the total tests done by 93 out of 110 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,191 out of 3,483 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 19 to September 1.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 62,655 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #171 dated September 1, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of September 1 only: Metro Manila with 1,824 new cases, Laguna with 223 new cases, Cavite with 184 new cases, Rizal with 161 new cases, and Batangas with 126 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 464 newly-reported recoveries and 39 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 158,012 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,597.
