This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #175 dated September 5, 2020, the Department of Health reported 2,529 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 234,570.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Saturday were reported based on the total tests done by 92 out of 113 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 2,145 out of 2,529 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 23 to September 5.
In addition, the Department of Health reported 69,112 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #175 dated September 5, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of September 5 only: Metro Manila with 1,171 new cases, Negros Occidental with 197 new cases, Laguna with 145 new cases, Cavite with 117 new cases, and Bulacan with 70 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 1,136 newly-reported recoveries and 53 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 161,668 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,790.
