CHED Orders Colleges in Isabela to In-Person Classes
CHED – The Commission on Higher Education has ordered Isabela College to stop the face to face classes after one student tests positive for COVID-19.
A student from a private higher education institution (HEI) in Cauayan City, Isabela tested positive for the coronavirus disease. The post-Baccalaureate student is attending face to face classes.
Isabela Colleges admitted that they are conducting classes for the Certificate in Professional Education program. The HEI began holding orientations last August 29, 2020, and the CPE program takes effect on August 24.
The Health Department identified the student who tested positive for the virus as “CV969”. The patient is an employee of Cauayan City’s local government unit and taking a professional education course.
On Wednesday (September 16, 2020), CHED Chairman J. Prospero De Vera III said that Cauayan healh officials are already conducting contact tracing to 45 people who have a close contact with the patient.
CHED also issued a show-cause order to the HEI for allegedly violating IATF guidelines for conducting face-to-face classes on their campuses, which is prohibited.
