Meanwhile, according to DENR Undersecretary Benny Antiporda, the restoration of Manila Bay aims to promote environmental awareness and cleanliness.
In a statement, he stressed that there are three objectives behind the restoration of the natural harbor; “to see is to believe,” “to smell is to believe,” and “to smell is to believe.”
It’s been a week since DENR started putting “white sand” on Manila Bay which is actually dolomite boulders from Cebu that were crushed and brought to Manila.
The goal of DENR is to allow the beachgoers to feel the Boracay essence via a one-hectare walkable area in Manila Bay.
DENR partners with the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) in this project.
Manila Bay’s beachfront will be ready in time for the International Coastal Cleanup Day this coming September 19.
