The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines already reached over 115,000, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of today, August 5, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #144 dated August 5, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,462 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 115,980.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Wednesday were reported based on the total tests done by 84 out of 98 current operational laboratories. Since July 27, the DOH didn’t report the fresh and late cases in its case bulletin.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 222 new recoveries and nine additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 66,270 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,123.
In addition, the Department of Health reported 47,587 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #144 dated August 5, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 5 only: Metro Manila with 2,434 new cases, Laguna with 105 new cases, Rizal with 101 new cases, Cavite with 73 new cases, and Cebu with 62 new cases.
