Undeniably, the agency that leads the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic aside from the national government is DOH. It is headed by Secretary Francisco Duque III.

However, many people including senators are visibly not satisfied with the performance of the DOH Chief. As for Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Duque has his trust.

Recently, another senator expressed her side on the lead of DOH Sec. Francisco Duque III against the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. Nancy Binay said it is maybe high-time for the DOH Chief to do some “soul-searching”.

Sen. Binay said it’s “very frustrating” that the President has yet to replace DOH Sec. Duque. According to her, it is maybe “high-time for the Secretary to do some soul-searching if he can reallydo the job”.

Based on the report, speaking to ANC, Senator Nancy Binay also said that maybe the assessment on whether or not he can do the job must come from DOH Sec. Duque himself. Meanwhile, the lady Senator acknowledged that it still depends on Pres. Duterte.

Sen. Binay hopes that the two-week MECQ implementation will pave the way for some things to be corrected. She also expressed her hope that the IATF and the health workers will constantly be in touch to solve the current problem.

  1. First task is to relinquish post as head of IATF to provide check and balance since DOHs functions shd be on constant check for transparency and accuracy.
