Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque gave a warning to the so-called ‘buwayas’ in the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
“Ang mensahe po sa mga buwaya ng PhilHealth: Tapos na po ang maliligayang araw niyo diyan. Good bye!” he said.
According to Harry Roque, President Rodrigo Duterte has created a high-level task force that would investigate the alleged corruption within the state-run insurance firm.
The task force will be headed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and accompanied by Office of the Ombudsman, Commission on Audit, Civil Service Commission, Office of the Executive Secretary, Office of the Special Assistant to the President and the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission.
The task force will conduct lifestyle checks among PhilHealth officials and issue preventive suspensions.

“Tingin ko as a lawyer, si Presidente exasperated, gusto na niyang matigil talaga itong korapsyon sa PhilHealth at gusto na niya na talagang may ngipin nga itong task force na binuo niya,” he said.
Harry Roque noted that the high-level task force must submit the results of its investigation within 30 days. They are also required to submit proposed legal actions.
It can be recalled that resigned PhilHealth anti-fraud legal officer Thorrsson Montes Keith revealed in a Senate hearing that a whopping P15 billion worth of funds have been pocketed by the officials in a “syndicate-like” transactions within the agency.
