Five telecommunicators of Emergency 911 Hotline had tested positive for COVID-19, according to DILG spox.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya on Monday said that five telecommunicators of Emergency 911 Hotline had tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
This, as Usec. Malaya said in an interview on GMA Network’s Unang Hirit that they had reported two emergency telecommunicators who had tested positive for COVID-19 in their first report and three emergency telecommunicators who also tested positive for coronavirus disease on Sunday night as reported by their executive director.
Malaya also said that because of this, they had been rerouting calls to local call centers in order to address the situation.
In addition, Malaya sought understanding from the public who utilized the Emergency 911 Hotline and said that the safety and health of emergency telecommunicators shall also be ensured.

Moreover, Malaya said that the problem was already being addressed, adding that there have been trainees this August and but they can’t be deployed yet as some of them had also tested positive for coronavirus disease.
Malaya then advised the public to use hotlines of local government units (LGUs) and police stations if they had important concerns or complaints.
